Biography of Artistic Playwright
Patti J. Hynes-McCarthy

Patti J. Hynes-McCarthy prides herself on growing up “Minnesotan” in a small northern Minnesota town (Pillager, Minnesota) and graduating from a high school class of 36 students. She attended the University of Minnesota at Morris and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Theatre/Speech/Secondary Education. She then completed a Master of Arts degree in Speech Communications with an emphasis in Theatre from North Dakota State University where she met her handsome husband, Tom and married in 1982 and moved to Coon Rapids. With a strong acting background, Patti never quite pictured herself as a playwright, but began writing scripts for The Seasons Dinner Theatre in 1989 and has to date written 20 original scripts which she will some day publish. Along with her husband, she has co-produced, directed and performed in numerous shows both original and published. She feels her Minnesota roots have been especially helpful in developing scripts that strongly appeal to The Seasons Dinner Theatre audiences which number over 6,500 in ticket sales for the holiday show. Patti also enjoyed a 16 year history working in human resources and health care, and takes great pride in her two outstandingly smart and handsome boys, Christopher and Jonathon. In addition, she has been blessed with a little girl this past year, Josephine Mae, who not only loves all the girly girl things Patti likes, but at the age of two, attends and enjoys theatre like a pro!
